The Great War Memorial Balloon Race

A few weekends ago we met my parents for an early dinner and then we went to the Great War Memorial Balloon Glow.  They did the glows at night and the races early in the morning.  We all wanted to see the hot air balloons.  I was so excited to see them and Eden was too.  We got there just in time to see them start blowing them up and to see how they get them up and standing.  It was really cool.  When it started turning dark they started lighting them up to make them glow.  The sight was pretty amazing.  I absolutely loved it.  We all enjoyed seeing them.  Eden was a little disappointed that they didn't fly that night but on our way to church on Sunday morning we saw one in the sky so that helped.  We will definitely go again sometime.

The balloons glowing behind the tree line.

The balloons closest to us lighting up.

We watched them get this balloon up.  I tell you it is something.  They blow it up slowly and there is a guy holding a rope that is attached to the top of it and he is way out holding tension and when it starts getting bigger he slowly starts walking towards the balloon.  Sometimes it took more than one guy.
 My dad holding Eden.

 The balloon is getting bigger....

Eden getting an even better view from the top of Michael's shoulders.

J. Pops and Mimi with the girls.

This monkey balloon was named, Gordo, after the first monkey in space with NASA.  This was Eden's favorite balloon.

This balloon was giving rides up to 50 ft.  Next time I am doing it;)

This guy didn't even have a basket on his balloon.  He was just in a seat.  Kind of crazy looking.

Eden had a blast running around looking at all of the hot air balloons.  It really was impressive!

Lots of the balloons lined up.

We all really enjoyed getting to see them glow.  They were so pretty.
